Nuvocargo, the AI-native logistics platform for North America, today announced it has acquired Mentum, a Y Combinator startup based in San Francisco that builds AI agents that automate procurement and supply chain workflows.
With this acquisition, the Mentum team, including founder & CEO Gustavo Trigos, will join Nuvocargo to strengthen its R&D organization and accelerate its AI agent initiatives within NuvoOS. Terms of the deal were not disclosed.
Mentum was founded by YC alum Gustavo Trigos, who has a rare mix of AI engineering, data science, and supply chain expertise, along with early-stage founder DNA
Originally launched as a fintech product, Mentum later focused on solving core supply chain challenges, helping teams automate how they purchase direct and indirect materials and services.
Despite the wide range of tools available, supply chain teams still found themselves buried in manual workflows involving hundreds of emails, spreadsheets, and documents.
Using large language models (LLMs), Mentum developed technology to aggregate and standardize unstructured data from these interactions and automate subsequent workflows. Mentum also built a human-in-the-loop system that allowed users to verify and approve agent actions.
With these AI agents, supply chain teams could streamline communication with suppliers and internal requestors, reducing cycle times and administrative workload.
We partnered with Gustavo and Mentum for a few reasons:
Mentum has been building AI agents for supply chain teams at mid-market US manufacturers, which is complementary to Nuvocargo’s roadmap for NuvoOS, our AI-native TMS for North America freight.
Mentum’s R&D philosophy is aligned with Nuvocargo’s: build AI agents for tedious, repetitive work without requiring users to change and adopt new platforms (email, text, etc.) and allow humans to focus on deepening customer relationships.
The Mentum team has worked closely with supply chain teams across mid-market manufacturers in the U.S., implementing AI agents that automate quoting, proposal, and purchase order workflows with suppliers. They’ve engaged with 300+ VPs and Directors of Supply Chain and visited dozens of factories to deeply understand their operational pain points.
The team has a multicultural background across USA and Latin America which is aligned with the culture at Nuvocargo.
We’re excited to partner with Gustavo, based in SF, who brings an AI-native founder DNA and has been on the cutting edge of what’s possible with LLMs applied towards the supply chain & logistics industry.
“Gustavo is a very unique breed of founder,” said Deepak Chhugani, Founder & CEO of Nuvocargo. “He grew up across multiple countries in Latin America, worked as a data scientist, has been building fintech and AI products in San Francisco, and carries the same YC DNA that runs through Nuvocargo. He’s multilingual, deeply understands the intersection of agents and supply chain, and has been building technology that’s extremely relevant to our roadmap and our vision for how AI will reshape the future of logistics.”
“When Deepak and the Nuvocargo team approached us, it was clear we shared the same vision for how AI can transform supply chains,” said Gustavo Trigos, Founder & CEO of Mentum. “They’ve earned the trust of major enterprises and built the foundation to deploy the kind of agent technology we’ve been developing at Mentum. We’re excited to bring our expertise together and tackle various complex technical challenges in logistics, across visibility, compliance, financing, pricing optimization, payments orchestration, and more.”
Nuvocargo believes the future of logistics will be defined by platforms that are AI-native from the ground up, where every workflow, from procurement to freight to payments, is orchestrated by systems that learn, adapt, and act.
At Nuvocargo we also believe that to achieve enterprise grade accuracy and reliability of AI agents in the supply chain you must combine two crucial elements:
Mentum’s approach to building software & AI agents is consistent with Nuvocargo’s approach. Mentum’s experience building AI agents is going to bolster our R&D team and help us accelerate progress towards our roadmap.
Nuvocargo offers AI-native managed transportation, customs brokerage, and freight brokerage solutions that help North American shippers reduce freight spend, improve service levels, and adopt AI faster across their supply chains.
We are the market leader in US–Mexico cross-border trucking, and in 2025 we expanded our reach to all of North America truckload freight, bringing the power of AI and our proprietary platform NuvoOS to the entire continent.
We’re fortunate to partner with some of the largest shippers in the region and backed by $75M+ from global investors including Tiger Global, QED, NFX, Hi Ventures, Y Combinator, and the founders of Nubank, Ramp, and Deel.
Nuvocargo was recognized as part of Y Combinator’s Top Companies list and Fast Company’s Most Innovative Companies (#1 in Logistics, #30 globally). Read more about our software/AI capabilities here and here.
Mentum is a San Francisco-based startup backed by Gradient Ventures and Y Combinator, founded by Gustavo Trigos, who previously worked as a quant at BlackRock’s AI team. Mentum’s mission is to eliminate friction in procurement by building technology that adapts to people. Its AI-powered agents embed directly into email and ERP systems, helping supply chain teams automate their source-to-pay workflows, including supplier evaluation, bidding, and spend reconciliation.
